Comcast Cares Day, which is observed on May 13 this year, brings together its employees, families, friends, and community partners from all around the globe to volunteer and make a difference in their communities. Comcast Cares Day, which has evolved to become the nation’s biggest single-day corporate volunteer event, celebrates the company’s year-round dedication to service. Hundreds of their employees, for example, mentor local school children in Comcast locations around the country as part of their collaboration with Big Brothers Big Sisters. They also act as ambassadors in their communities, assisting underprivileged families in bridging the digital gap via access to technology. Furthermore, their employees donate their professional talents, such as marketing, human resources, and legal knowledge, to support charitable organizations.
History of Comcast Cares Day
Comcast Cares Day began in 2001, with 6,100 volunteers assisting in improving approximately 100 community sites. In 2021, over 100,000 volunteers, including staff, their families and friends, and our nonprofit partners, came out to spruce up neighborhoods, beautify schools, plant trees, and do a variety of other things across 39 states and the District of Columbia, as well as 21 different countries. Comcast Cares Day, the country’s most prominent corporate charitable event, is one of the company’s most cherished traditions.
It’s been an incredible journey over the years. About 200 Comcast staff members volunteered for Philadelphia Cares Day in 1996. In its current form, Comcast Cares Day debuted in 2001 after observing how much volunteer work resonated with staff members in the company’s hometown, and it just kept growing from there. Over the years Comcast Cares Day has had over one million volunteers from dozens of nations worldwide.
Comcast N.B.C.Universal marked its 17th Comcast Cares Day on April 21, 2018, and reached the millionth volunteer milestone since its inception in 2001. Giving back to communities is central to Comcast N.B.C.Universal’s culture, and Comcast Cares Day is the company’s way of recognizing its employees’ dedication to improving communities daily. Comcast identified its one-millionth volunteer, Kyeshia Bates, a Comcast worker for seven years who worked on Detroit’s order fulfillment team to commemorate this significant achievement. Over 1 million Comcast Cares Day participants have committed over 6 million volunteer hours to help communities with over 10,000 projects globally since the inaugural Comcast Cares Day in 2001.
